Overview

Storwize products are installed between the storage arrays and the IP/FC network and provide on-the-fly lossless and transparent compression and an increase in file capacity of 300 percent or more. Storwize technology is based on algorithms deployed in a custom appliance that compresses data at real time while clients transparently access their data files and save them more quickly and more efficiently than ever before.
Product benefits:

  • Plug-and-play installation
  • No network redesign required
  • No network address or name changes
  • Set-and-forget solution
  • Meta file data remains intact
  • Storage authentication, permissions, and security model remain unchanged
  • Agnostic to Vendor Disk Subsystem

  • Product features:

  • Compression Ratio : Using Storwize, available storage space can be doubled, tripled or more. The compression ratio varies according to the nature of the data.
  • Share Filters: The user can decide which shares will be compressed and which shares will be stored in their original size.
  • Link Aggregation : Support for link aggregation protocols enables the grouping of multiple Ethernet network interfaces into one logical high-bandwidth, redundant link.
  • Topology Discovery On-the-fly : This feature simplifies the configuration of a network bridge. The Topology Discovery automatically detects the interfaces on-the-fly that are connected to the network switch and to the NAS. The physical ports of the NAS and network are automatically mapped regardless of their physical connection. If a NIC is replaced, thus changing its MAC address, the new MAC address is automatically discovered.
  • Multi IP:Multiple storage devices can connect to a single appliance.
  • High Availability : The appliance integrates seamlessly into highly-available networked storage infrastructures and maintains its HA features. It supports Active-Active and Active Passive modes.
  • WEB-based GUI Administration Tool : Storwize provides a convenient web-based GUI administration tool, which enables the system administrator to configure the network, define which shares will be compressed, troubleshoot, and perform various other management functions.
